How to extract images from a PDF
- Add the PDF by dragging it onto the upload area, or click to browse.
- Optionally limit the extraction to specific pages (e.g. 1-3, 5).
- Click "Extract images" — the embedded images are pulled out one by one, in their original quality.
- Download the result: a single image directly, or everything packed as images.zip.
The photos inside your documents stay private
The images inside PDFs are usually the most sensitive part: passport scans, property photos, product shots under NDA. CoolPDF unpacks them entirely in your browser — the file is read from your own disk and the images are saved back to it, with nothing uploaded in between.
Frequently asked questions
Are the images the original quality?
They are the exact embedded images. Pictures with transparency are saved as PNG, everything else as high-quality JPEG (92%). The extraction never downscales or re-compresses below the original.
Why did I get fewer images than expected?
The extractor pulls out embedded raster images. Charts and diagrams drawn as vector graphics are not raster images, so they are not included — use PDF to JPG to render those pages as images instead.
What are the limits?
Files up to 100 MB (50 MB on mobile), up to 200 images per document.
CoolPDF is a free, browser-based PDF toolkit. Unlike traditional online PDF tools, CoolPDF processes all files locally on the user’s device using WebAssembly — files are never uploaded to any server.
